★ The story so far

One family. Two backyards.
Three days of glory.

It started small — a few summers, a few backyards, a lot of memories. This year, we're going full clan — every aunt, uncle, cousin, kid, and plus-one — for the biggest Reifschneider reunion yet.

We're spreading across two houses in Wichita — Dave & Johnny's at 5139 N Harborside Ct and Kevin & Melanie's right next door at 5143 N Harborside Ct, with sleeping space, food, fireworks, and a brand-new pool that Kevin and Melanie are putting in just in time.

Bring your appetite. Bring your kids. Bring that recipe everyone always asks about. And whatever you do — send your RSVP so we know how many to plan for.

House 2 is almost ready

Live from Kevin & Melanie's backyard — the great pool & patio expansion of 2026

💧 Pool · water's going in
✅ Patio & deck · poured & done
🔨 Siding & windows · going up
⚠ Outdoor kitchen · still the holdout
The new pool shell from above, with the lake visible behind it
The Big Picture Pool shell in, lake at the back, the bones of a serious summer hangout. We're racing the calendar but the team's hitting the dates.
Melanie on site with a clipboard, getting input from Johnny the neighbor
The Boss & Her Consultant Melanie running point with the clipboard, as always — this time taking input from Johnny next door, who's developed strong opinions about plant beds and pool deck layouts. We're told "Reunion 2026" is now a milestone in her project plan, and Johnny's been promoted to unpaid advisor.
Kevin standing in the empty pool with arms raised and a beer in hand
The Inaugural "Swim" Kevin claims this counts as the first dip. Beer in hand, no water in sight. We're told this is what they call "manifesting" in Wichita.
Back of Kevin and Melanie's house showing the screened porch and patio area under construction
The Home Stretch The patio's coming together. The outdoor kitchen is the last piece on the punch list and probably won't make the deadline — but Kevin's positive energy seems to be pushing the rest of the project across the finish line. (Kevin always says we're good. So far, he's not wrong.)
Concrete pool deck poured, stonework going in, retaining walls finished
Things Are Coming Together Concrete's poured. Pool deck taking shape. Stonework going in around the landscape beds. Retaining wall buttoned up. From a dirt pit a few weeks ago to this — Kevin and Melanie are bringing it home. T-minus a few weeks and we're in the water.
Crew floating fresh concrete on the new pool deck, screened porch and composite stairs to the right
Decked Out The deck pour wrapped all the way around the pool. Crews on their knees floating it smooth from the porch steps to the water's edge. That is a whole lot of future lounge chair real estate.
Crew hand-troweling the pool floor base, the lake visible just beyond the fence
Down to the Details Hand troweling the pool floor before the liner goes in. The unglamorous, knee in the mud work nobody photographs but everybody ends up swimming on. The lake is right there waiting.
House wrap and fresh lap siding going up on a garage gable, windows in progress
Dressed for Company It is not just the pool. The houses are getting buttoned up too, fresh house wrap on, new siding climbing the gable, and windows going in. Everything looking sharp before the family photo.
The finished pool with blue liner installed and water filling, deck complete, lake behind
★ Latest Update — There's Water in the Pool Liner is in, the deck is done, and the hose is running. From a dirt pit to actual blue water in a matter of weeks. Kevin said we were good. Kevin was right. Start practicing your cannonball form.

By July 3rd…

The pool will be full. The patio & backyard will be ready. The outdoor kitchen won't be done in time — but we've got the smoker and pizza oven on hand, so pizza night and BBQ night are still on, and so is every cannonball.
